Spiridon was a planet of the ninth
system. It was covered with forests, with a vegetation that more
resembled animal life than plants, besides creatures that were
hostile to everything. The climate of Spiridon was tropical during
the day, however with freezing temperatures at night. |

|
Some plants
squirted a type of fluid that could be mortal for other species,
including the human, because these fluids transported a type of
fungus that after the contact with the skin, they caused a type of
vegetation to grow on the skin. |
|
The planet also presented a form of
intelligent life, the Spiridons. These humanoid beings were
invisible and they usually used heavy fur coats. They just became
visible, when they died. |

Spiridon
presented natural pools of melted ice, hyper cold, with temperatures
below zero and half liquid. Actually, the liquid was a type of ice
that never hardened. |
The core of the planet was
of ice and when this entered in eruption, it squirted flows of melted ice
instead of the lava. There were also natural ducts of ice and fissures that some
times entered in eruption as a volcano, spurting the lava of liquid ice from the
core of the planet.
|
A city was
built, using the natural ducts of ice as its system of refrigeration. |
|
 |
Spiridon was invaded by the
Daleks, who
wanted to know the art of the invisibility. Before the invasion, the Daleks
bombed the planet with bacterias. Only a few of the Spiridons survived and it
was forced to cooperate with the Daleks. A small minority formed a resistance to
struggle against the invaders. Among these ones, there was Wester, who had saved
Jo, the Third Doctor's companion, and later helped her a lot.
After they subdued the
population, the Daleks even learned the techniques of the invisibility, however
as that consumed a lot of energy, they were able to maintain the invisibility
only for short periods of time.
The Daleks were using a
laboratory in the underground city for a series of experiences, among these it
was the development of a bacteriological culture that when liberated in the
atmosphere, would destroy any life form. After the liberation of the bacteria,
in the period of a day of Spiridon, all vegetal life would die. Any form of
animal life would die one hour after inhaling the polluted air. The Daleks
created an antidote vaccine, which would be applied in all Daleks and in the
slave Spiridons. The Supreme Command of Daleks gave the order to release the
bacteriological culture to destroy the whole life in the planet.

The Daleks also
maintained an army of ten thousand Daleks in the planet, which was
in a state of suspended animation in a cave in the sub-soil of
Spiridon. A gigantic unit of refrigeration maintained them dormant.
The plan was to wake them up on the right time, with the intention
of invading all the planets of the solar system. |
|
The Dalek Supreme
went to Spiridon to personally command this operation. He arrived to
the planet in a small ship, accompanied by two regular Daleks. |

Spiridon was saved of the complete
annihilation by the action and sacrifice of the brave Wester. He
penetrated in the laboratory of the Daleks, faking to be one of the
slaves. Once in its interior, he opened the tank of the bacterias,
before the Daleks were prepared with their antidote vaccines. Wester
died due to the liberated bacterias. The laboratory was hermetically
sealed and it could not be opened anymore. The face of Wester
appeared, after his death, a senior man's face. |
The plans of conquest of
the Daleks were frustrated by the Third Doctor, Jo and their friends, the Thals.
They placed a bomb in a wall near the entrance of the cave where the Dalek army
hibernated, and when this bomb exploded, a sea of melted ice lava invaded the
cave. The Daleks that were already in revival process returned to the state of
suspended animation due to the low temperatures. They were not dead, but it
would take a long time to rescue them and to revive them.
After frustrating the plans
of the Daleks, the Thals took possession of the ship of the Dalek Supreme, who
was still busy with the problems imposed by his enemies, and they came back to
Skaro using it.
The Dalek Supreme and his
two soldiers arrived late to stop the robbery of their ship, however they almost
captured the Doctor and Jo, and however they fled and could arrive to the safety
of the TARDIS, quickly leaving Spiridon.
The Dalek Supreme stayed in
Spiridon, however he sent a message to Supreme Council requesting a rescue ship.
